The concept of Lazy Hat was born in 2009 during my time in a small room in Afghanistan. Originally, it envisioned a complex living history town, a grand undertaking that would have required numerous investors and dedicated individuals. Though the ministry has taken a different path, the name remains, carrying with it the original aspiration for community. (Discover the full original idea HERE.)
After retiring, I committed myself to finally finishing a book I'd started writing at 18—a work still in progress. As part of my research for this manuscript, I ventured into self-publishing, starting with a few journals to learn the ropes of the process. This foundational experience culminated in my first official book, A Warrior's Writings, a collection of poetry and thoughts gathered over the years. Following that, Preparing Makes Sense was developed, specifically aimed at encouraging emergency preparedness among children.
Since then, I've been fortunate to collaborate with my father, Benjamin R. Bates Jr., helping him publish several of his own books. Exciting new projects are currently in the pipeline, with more releases anticipated. Be sure to follow our page for the latest announcements. We use this stream of income as a way to support the ministry of Called Out. You can discover more information about Called Out by visiting our website HERE.
You can find most of my books listed below. Additional prayer journals are available on Amazon, and A Warrior's Writings along with Warrior Ready are also stocked at Barnes & Noble.
